Heritage meets intelligent innovation in Genoa
Genoa, Italy is steeped in history and culture. Designated a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2006, the La Strada Nuove and the Palazzi dei Rolli stand as timeless reminders of Genoa's Renaissance and Baroque splendor.
But how does a city with such a rich past prepare for the challenges of the future?
With the aim of balancing preservation with urban efficiency, Genoa partnered with Octave, through the START 4.0 Competence Centre, to undertake an ambitious urban digital twin project.
Thanks to Octave Alto Twin (formerly HxGN Smart Sites), Genoa now has precise 3D models of both the municipality and what lies beneath, including utilities and underground rivers. It’s able to plan infrastructure and restoration projects without disrupting the flow of the city. And with Genoa’s dynamic digital twin right around the corner – the potential is endless.
Genoa is proving that history and innovation can coexist, bridging its storied past with a sustainable, efficient future.
