It's not exactly mentioned in this show but in the original "Go Ahead(cdrama) the boys sister dies from choking on a walnut while they were left alone. In the cdrama the mom went out i think gambling and locked them in the house so he couldn't get help all he could do is call the cops and wait. He basically had to watch his sister breath her last breath in front of him. Then mom proceeded to claim him
