Galactus 1775096366
Had no idea you could write comments here lol But your original comment on Galactus was dead on the money. He’s not purely evil, but a cosmic necessity. A force of nature that maintains balance in the universe. His consumption of planets helps sustain that balance. If he could stop, he probably would, but it’s more like an addiction or an unavoidable hunger, he has to feed. And there are times when he actually honours a planet’s wishes. The perfect example is with Silver Surfer. Normally, it’s Norrin Radd who offers himself up to Galactus to save his homeworld, Zenn-La, becoming the Silver Surfer. Though in the film, it’s Shalla-Bal instead. Shalla-Bal for context is the lover of Norrin Radd, who I'll mention will be the mainline Silver Surfer down the line. Galactus himself also has a really cool backstory. In Marvel lore, the multiverse goes through cycles of death and rebirth. Before the current Marvel Multiverse, there was a previous universe where a man named Galan lived on the planet Taa, a highly advanced, almost utopian world. When that universe collapsed, Galan fused with the sentient energy of the dying cosmos and was reborn in the current multiverse as Galactus. So he’s not just some random cosmic being, he’s a survivor of the previous multiverse, transformed into something fundamental to the structure of reality itself. Each universe also has its own version of Galactus, though it seems like the MCU might be going in the direction of there being only one Galactus across the entire multiverse. Which I actually prefer. It makes him feel more unique, and treats him as something beyond the normal rules of existence.
