Last September, Sallie Mae launched the "Bridging The Dream" scholarship where guidance counselors across the country were asked to nominate junior and senior high school students who were hard working, had an interesting story to tell, and had a skill they felt was special. Quinton, from West Hills, CA was selected as one of the four finalists.

Quinton is full of life and has an innate drive to excel in whatever he does. When his family needed him, he stepped up to earn money. And with the dream of becoming a pediatric surgeon, he took action to increase his chances of scholarships and financial aid from schools.

With an already full schedule, Quinton used every extra moment to develop skills that might help him stand out to schools. He trained as a high-flying aerialist and gymnast, and was part of his high school’s cheerleading team. Quinton spends most of his waking hours moving between school activities and then working to supplement his family’s income. Throughout it all, he focuses on his goal: getting the college education he needs. He believes winning the "Bridging The Dream” Scholarship will be a game-changer in his life.
