Implementing Positive Psychology Strategies to Improve Student Outcomes

Speaker: Dr. Candalyn B. Rade & Dr. Betty-Shannon Prevatt, Meredith College

In this presentation, we will review the relevant literature regarding the benefits of using positive psychology strategies in the classroom to support student wellbeing and academic success. Embedding positive psychology exercises into instruction leads to increased student motivation, class engagement, academic performance, and overall wellbeing, as well as reduced levels of stress.

The presenters will share their experiences using these approaches, including student participation and impressions. This session will provide examples of positive psychology exercises to smoothly integrate into your classroom, demonstrations of how to use these tools, and opportunities to identify how you can incorporate them into your teaching.
